Detention and Flawed Legal Process

The boxer was detained in March 2020. The allegations against him comprised “promoting decay on Earth through incendiarism and ruin of public property”. His sentence has been reversed on two occasions but on 4 October it was confirmed on the latest review. His trial was condemned as “deeply biased” by rights defenders and groups.

Call to UN

The appeal to stop the athlete's execution follows a previous appeal to the UN high commissioner for rights, endorsed by in excess of one hundred rights specialists and groups, demanding action to prevent the competitor's execution.

Capital Punishment Escalation
